The competent authority or person has the right not to examine the petitions containing offensive or rude language, threats to the national security, public order and life. Such a bill was passed by the MPs in the first reading on October 24. The opposition voted against, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Justice Nicolae Esanu said the petitions that contain threats to the national security, public order, life and health of officials and their families and threats against other bodies will be remitted to the competent law enforcement bodies.
The period for examining the petition will be extended by at most 30 workdays by the competent authority if additional consultations are needed for formulating an answer to the petition. The period will be also extended if the petition refers to a large volume of information that is to be examined and selected for writing an answer.
Under the current legislation, the period can be prolonged for at most a month in special cases.
The bill defines the cases when the period for examining the petition can be extended.
If the petitioner submits several petitions centering on the same issue to one competent authority or person, the petitions will be merged and the petitioner will receive one answer that will make reference to all the given petitions.
