The holders of health policy more often use primary medical assistance than those who are not medically insured. The insured persons also benefitted from the largest number of treatments, including at home, shows a study carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics at the request of the Ministry of Health, IPN reports.

According to the study, self-medication is more often used by persons without a health policy. 50% of them administer drugs without medical prescription. This figure among those who are medically insured stands at 30%.

The study reveals that more than 50% of those interviewed consider themselves healthy. Eight years ago, this conviction was shared by 41.2% of the population. 12.4% of those surveyed said their state of health is very bad. This is an increase of almost 5% on 2008.

In urban areas, about 57% of the population schedule an appointment before going to see a doctor, while in rural areas only 25%. This figure among persons with health policy stands at 40.8%, while among those without it at 30.1%.

The study covered a sample of 2,742 persons.
