The persons with disabilities who are looking for a job and are registered as unemployed at the National Employment Agency can benefit from the assisted employment service. This service benefits the person, the employer and the state alike. Besides obtaining financial independence, the persons who find a job manage to develop social relations in the community. The state gains by ensuring a higher employment rate and social inclusion, while the employers by attracting dedicated and loyal labor force. A project to help persons with disabilities become employed by promoting the assisted employment service is implemented by “Motivație” Association.

In a news conference at IPN, Ludmila Iachim, “Motivație” executive director, said that as part of the project that is being completed, they carried out a series of activities to strengthen the assisted employment services for persons with disabilities. During a rather short period of time, since May, at least 29 persons with disabilities found a job and this is among the most important results. The project covered almost 70 persons with disabilities who benefitted from different training courses. This is a good result as there are multiple challenges and difficulties related to the employment of persons with disabilities.

Viorica Fochim, senior consultant at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, said the assisted employment service is provided in an individual way, depending on the necessities, and is free of charge. For persons with disabilities, this is a real opportunity to find a job. Assisted employment consists of several stages, such as establishment of contacts and involvement of the beneficiary, working out of the vocational profile, identification of a job, engagement of the employer and assistance at the workplace, and post-employment monitoring.

The project “Employment of Persons with Disabilities by Promoting Assisted Employment Services” is implemented with support from the project “Economic Policy Advice to the Moldovan Government” that is put into practice by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Olesea Ghedrovici, manager of the policy component of the “Economic Policy Advice to the Moldovan Government” project, said having a job means not only a salary, but also access to the social and economic life. The assisted employment service is one of the best international practices for encouraging and facilitating the persons with disabilities’ access to the labor market. “The designing and promotion of this mechanism are possible thanks to the cooperation based on dialogue between us, the German Agency for International Cooperation and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection,” stated Olesea Ghedrovici.

Maria Caireac, “Motivație” assisted employment specialist from Taraclia, noted she is very glad that she can help persons with disabilities. After she became involved in this project, she better realized the needs of these persons. The reluctance of some of the employers or the hyper-tutelage of parents or guardians makes these people unconfident. She helps them to overcome this feeling and guides them in this process that is new for them.
