The persons who throw garbage out of the window, leave waste bags in yards of apartment buildings or on the street and take construction waste to household waste platforms risk being fined. The authorities call on the dwellers and block managers to denounce the ill-intentioned persons.

Vasile Efros, head of the Territorial Development and Cleanup Section of the General Public Amenities Division of Chisinau, has told IPN that it goes first of all to the general culture as some prefer to clean the apartment, but do not care about the public place. Some of the dwellers simply throw the waste bag or cigarette butts or spit sunflower seed shells of out of the window.

Among the problems, he also mentioned the taking of construction waste to household waste platforms. Therefore, with the modernization of platforms, the area around where this type of waste is usually left is planted with bushes so as to hamper access. Usually, those who commit such irregularities do it at night so as not to be seen by dwellers. The same is true about large objects, such as wardrobes and beds, and vegetal waste. The dwellers from the private sector often take the vegetal waste gathered in the garden or yard to containers on waste platforms.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati said the police so far this year drew up over 1,900 reports on the violation of the rules of ensuring cleanness in villages and towns. These are transmitted to the administrative commissions of district head’s offices or mayor’s offices in the case of suburban localities and these take a decision. The fines vary between 900 to 1,800 lei.

Under the Contravention Code, the fine for violating the waste management rules oscillates between 600 and 1,500 lei in the case of private individuals and can reach 15,000 lei in the case of legal entities.
