Persons soliciting Moldovan citizenship to be obliged to present criminal records

People requesting the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova will be obliged to annex to the application a criminal record from the country they come from and a criminal record from Moldova. More, they will be asked to declare whether they committed the actions stipulates in the Law on Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. These provisions are included in the amendments approved by the Government in the last week to the Rules on the procedure of obtaining and losing the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. The new provisions aim at excluding the cases of obtaining citizenship illegally. The aforementioned draft was elaborated by the Ministry of Informational Development according to the provisions of the 20th article of the Law on Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, which settles the refuse grounds when issuing citizenship.
