Over 2.5 million Moldovans with the right to vote can take part in the July 29 legislative elections. The polling stations will be open from 7.00 to 21.00, Info-Prim Neo reports. A number of 1,987 polling places were set up overall – 1,954 inside the country and 33 at Moldova’s embassies and consular offices abroad. All the Moldovan citizens that have identification papers can participate in the vote. The people can vote using the identity card of the Moldovan citizen with the accompanying paper showing where the voter lives or has the residence visa, or the Soviet-type passport of the model of 1974, where it is indicated the Moldovan nationality, the state identification number of the private individual (IDNP) and the registration at the domicile. The voters can also use the Soviet-type passport of the model of 1974 without state identification number, where it is written “valid for an unlimited period”. The persons that renounced the identification papers for religious reasons can vote using the temporary identity document F-9, where it is indicated the Moldovan nationality and the domicile of the holder. Those that will vote at polling stations opened abroad can also use the entry/exit passport, the sailor’s permit, the soldier’s record for conscript military men and the permit issued by the Civil Service Center. The people can also vote with the identity card with the expired period of validity. The Central Election Commission (CEC) allowed the persons that do not have permanent or temporary registration at the domicile to vote at the polling station located at the last place of residence where one has the registration. The special stamp “29.07.09 ALEGERI” will be put in the identification papers of all the voters as a control measure aimed at preventing multiple voting. The CEC informs that the voters who lost the identification papers or whose papers have expired can ask for the temporary identity document F-9, where it is indicated the Moldovan nationality and the domicile of the holder, at population documentation offices free of charge, on the election day inclusive. The voters will choose one of the eight election contenders written in the ballot. The CEC accredited 488 international observers from 30 organizations (including 8 observers on behalf of five foreign electoral institutions) and 2,672 national observers from 15 organizations to monitor the July 29 legislative elections. Exit polls will be carried out in 200 polling places. The persons that have already voted will be asked questions as to their age, education and ethnicity. Afterward, they will receive the questionnaire to mark the party that they voted for. The filled out questionnaire will be put into a special box. The first results on the basis of exit polls will be announced at 21.05. The final results will be announced in an hour.
