Moldova has won the first medals at the European Wrestling Championships held in Serbia. Andrei Perpelita and Svetlana Saenko won bronzes, IPN reports.
Perpelita competed in the 61 kg class. In the match for the third position, he defeated Ukraine’s Petro Bileichuk even if the score at a certain moment was 10:10.
For her part, Svetlana Saenko didn’t encounter serious problems in the match for the bronze medal in the 75 kg class. She managed to win against Anna Schell of Germany 8-3.
Moldovan wrestler Iulia Leorda ranked fifth in the 53 kg class.
Moldova’s Mihail Sava (70 kg), Andrei Romanov (125 kg) and Mariana Cherdivara-Esanu (58 kg) enter the competition on May 5. The European Wrestling Championships in Serbia end on May 7.
