The People’s Republican Party is concerned about the intention of the authorities to suppress the independent mass-media, specifically “Euro TV” and “Antena C”, a statement of the party says, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the statement, one of the obvious purposes of the coalition between the Communists’ Party and People’s Christian Democrat Party is to institute a total control over the audiovisual. An eloquent example is “the fraudulent transfer of the governmental publications “Moldova Suverana” and “Nezavisimaia Moldova” from the state’s property into the property of some suspicious persons, without organizing any auctions nor respecting other democratic procedures related to mass-media”, the statement says. Authors assert that the authorities decided to use the same method in order to destroy “Euro TV” and “Antena C”, which are among the few equidistant and objective mass information sources. “The legal procedures related to liquidation and reorganization have not been respected. This fact damaged the moral and material state of the companies’ staff members, whose future hasn’t been decided yet”, the authors of the statement say. PPR wants to draw the attention of diplomatic missions accredited to Moldova and local representations of international financial bodies upon the fact that, behind the appearance of the so-called pro-European reforms, the red-orange coalition plans a massive attack against the independent media, leaving hundreds of specialists unemployed. “Taking into consideration the fact that the legislative, executive and judicial branches of power have been usurped by the Voronin political clan, our only hope rests in the international bodies. In this hard period we would like to offer our support to the personnel of Euro TV and Antena C”, the PPR statement says.
