The people are sick and tired of political quarrels. They want to see the politicians doing something, not speaking only. This is how political analyst Ion Tabarta commented on the results of a recent CBS-AXA poll, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the poll, almost 50% of the population believes that we do not need early elections. “It is normal that the people do not want early legislative elections. First of all, they are tired of the frequency of elections during the last three years. If the current trends persist, we will not have early elections. This means that the present government will continue the European integration course of Moldova,” Ion Tabarata stated for Info-Prim Neo. The poll shows that the same four parties will enter Parliament if elections are held. However, the popularity of the Communist Party has decreased compared with the previous polls, while of the Liberal-Democratic Party has increased. The Democratic Party and the Liberal Party have almost the same election score. “This shows that the Moldovan party-based system became stable and reached a certain degree of coagulation and crystallization,” said Ion Tabarta. He stressed that despite being very active on the political arena, the extra-parliamentary parties cannot yet break the ratio of forces in the system of parties of Moldova. Ion Tabarata also said that the recent poll points to a decline in the population’s trust in the state institutions and stressed that the Moldovans’ confidence in the state institutions is generally low. “The Church enjoys the greatest trust not accidentally. This is explicable for a country in the process of transition to democracy, the state institutions being functionally weak and not very efficient,” stated the analyst. He said that the state institutions faced a new challenge in the summer-autumn of 2012 – the unification marches. This fact could not add points to Moldova’s image. The CBS-AXA poll covered a sample of 1,225 persons. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
