The police warn the citizens that different false messages are disseminated through social networking sites and mobile applications in a move to misinform the people and to cause panic in society, IPN reports.
The General Police Inspectorate warns the persons who disseminate such fakes not to profit from the epidemiological situation in the county to panic population and disrupt the activity of the competent bodies as this is illegal and those involved will be identified and penalized.
The persons are urged to inform themselves only from official sources, in this case the website of the Police, and to verify any received information.
Messages saying the police announced that someone is trying to profit from the situation related to COVID-19 and that persons ask for personal data from citizens and go to homes dressed in doctors for robbery purposes have been disseminated recently.
