People say they want to celebrate Europe Day because they live in Europe

The Moldovans say the idea of celebrating Europe Day in Moldova is welcome as they are able to find out more about the history and traditions of the Europeans by such events. Within a poll carried out by Info-Prim Neo, the people said that such events will help the Moldovans better realize the real European values, how they should be observed and how they should behave when they go to Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I associate Europe Days in Moldova with such words as democratic, free, open and welcome. I consider that such celebrations are welcome. We celebrate because we accept values that promote the EU member states and want to show that we are as good as they,” said a woman.
Another respondent said that celebrating Europe Days in Moldova represents sharing cultural, religious, artistic and ecological values that the Moldovans should know. “I consider there should be celebrated the wisdom and intelligence of those who want to do interesting and correct things,” stated the man.
An adolescent said the initiative is welcome. If Moldova wants to form part of the EU and be in Europe, it should celebrate such events. “When we are in Europe we should know what to do and what we want,” said the young man.
Another young man said that Moldova should celebrate such events if it wants to be accepted into the EU.
“We must celebrate in order to be closer to the EU member states. Such events bring the people closer to values that should be known in Moldova. We must learn something from such events,” said another respondent.
Europe Days in Moldova will be celebrated in Chisinau and Comrat during May 12 – 19. Tents of the embassies of the EU member states will be put up in the Great National Assembly Square, as last year. The visitors of the “European Village” will be able to receive information about the languages, culture, traditions and cuisine of the European countries. Linguistic corners’ will be set up within the “European Village”, where the visitors will be able to learn key words and phrases in different languages of the EU. A similar program will take place in Comrat on May 19.
The celebrations are organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova. The sponsors of the events are Sudzucker, Orange, Agroindbank Moldova, and Flor Art.
