The new political party, the People Power Party, has 1,400 members and local organizations in Chișinău, Hâncești, Ialoveni and Nisporeni. The documents required for registering the new party will be submitted to the Public Services Agency on March 1, the party’s president Ruslan Codreanu announced in a news conference that was held after the party’s constitution congress, of February 28, IPN reports.

Ruslan Codreanu said the People Power Party will not come to divide other parties. “We come to build a community of people for the whole Republic of Moldova,” he stated, noting the party will focus on four key areas of activity, namely: education, ecology, economy and development of SMEs.

The president of the new party stated they want to set up local organizations in all Moldova’s settlements - communities of people who will build the country’s political agenda. “We founded this party in order to introduce the daily problems faced in the Republic of Moldova on the political agenda. We are a platform for young people so that the voice of the young people is heard, for small businesses that are now closing down so that their voice is heard. We founded this party because we want to contradict those who say that there is no money in the country. We have money, but it is managed badly and unprofessionally. We aim to say a firm “no” to the way in which the health system is now managed in the Republic of Moldova. After a year of pandemic, we didn’t learn anything,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.

Party member Mihai Stratulat, pediatrician, said he joined the team of the People Power Party in a move to help the healthcare sector develop in the Republic of Moldova. “The lack of investments in this area brought us to where we are now. A year has passed since the start of the pandemic and we see all the faults in the health system. In general, not much changed in the health system the past few years,” stated Mihai Stratulat.

Lawyer Ruslan Vasilică, the head of the Chisinau local organization, said the new party intends to solve the problems faced not only by the people from the capitals city. “Regrettably, the infrastructure in the suburban settlements is being destroyed, the healthcare is of a poor quality, education is of a poor quality, attention to the children’s health is not devoted. We formed a community of people who do not want to leave the country. We want to help it develop and to do something. By such a platform we will manage to solve the problems of people from rural areas,” stated Ruslan Vasilică.

At the constitution congress, the party elected its president and its administrative bodies and approved the program and statutes of the People Power Party.

In a news conference on January 21, Ruslan Codreanu and Mihai Stratulat announced the intention to form a political party.
