People of theater awarded at UNITEM Gala

The UNITEM award for the best actress in the 2014-2015 season was given to Olga Prohorova for the role of Antonia in the play “Free pair”, with Tudor Andriuta being named the best actor for the role of Panait in the play “Water comes or Nimfodora”. The 14th UNITEM Awards Gala took place at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” in the evening of March 23, IPN reports.

The president of the Theater Union of Moldova (UNITEM) Alexandru Grecu said the UNITEM Awards Gala is designed to support those who work with dedication and choose what to communicate, confirming thus that the artist has always been the messenger of the beauty and a fighter struggling against the social weaknesses. “The UNITEM Awards Gala climaxes an activity in which we yearly put our talent and soul,” he stated.

In the ceremony, Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici handed over the award for the best drama, which is “The Toth Family” by Istvan Orkey, staged at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” under the direction of Alexandru Cozub. The Premier said the UNITEM Gala became a good tradition that should be continued. “I congratulate you all on this nice activity you perform and on the work you do. I thank you for promoting Moldova’s image abroad,” he stated.

The award for the best direction went to Daniels Burlaca for the play “The Chairs” by Eugene Ionesco, put on at the Studio Theater “Geneza-Art”. The award for the best musical work was given to Liviu Stirbu for the music from the play “Notenkraker or the fifth season” by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, directed by Mihai Tarna at the Journal Theater “Ginta Latina”. The award for the best scenography went to Adrian Suruceanu for the plays “Adam and Eve” and “Sleeping Beauty”, staged at the National Theater “Luceafarul” under the direction of Boris Focsa.

The award for the best role in the puppet theater was conferred on Arcadie Strungaru for the role of the ostrich in the play “Curious elephant” by Rudyard Kipling, staged at the National Puppet Theater “Licurici” under the direction of Nicu Prescura. The award for the best secondary female role was received by Diana Decuseara for the role of Aghika in the play “The Toth Family”. Igor Izman got the award for the best male secondary role for the role of the dwarf in the play “Sleeping Beauty”.

Artiom Oleacu, of the National Theater “Satiricus”, got the award for dramaturgy for “Diagonala B”. Dmitri Dubina was awarded for the best debut in the role of Andrei in the play “Bring my life back, please” by A. Krupin, directed by Iurii Harmelin, the State Dramatic Theater for Youth “From the Rose Street”.

The award “Nadejda Aronetskaya” that is given by UNITEM went to the actor of the State Drama and Comedy Theater “N. Aronetskaya” of Tiraspol Igor Taran. Another new award was the gratitude award for personalities who contributed to developing culture. The award was given to ex-minister of culture Grigore Cusnir.
