A group of people of culture in a news conference called upon the people to go to the polls and to vote for the pro-European parties on November 30, IPN reports.

The president of the Theater Union Sandu Grecu said that this year is as important as the year when the Declaration of Independence was vsigned. “We support the parties that show us the way to Europe. I personally support a lot the Liberal Democratic Party as they fulfilled their promises,” he stated.

Spiridon Vangheli noted that November 30 will be a historical day for Moldova. “We will put the wisdom and the future on the scale. We must go towards Europe,” said the writer, adding that Moldova must also join NATO as it be able to protect its territory only this way.

The president of the Writers Union of Moldova Arcadie Suceveanu called on the people to vote correctly and to vote for the European course. “The path followed by Moldova over the last five years is the best. It is an irreversible path. We cannot go back, where there is blood and war,” he stated. The writer underlined that Moldova and its people must tend to join the area where the human rights, not the arms are given priority.

Writer Vladimir Besleaga believes that Moldova’s chances to join the EU are in the hands of the young people, who must take part in the elections. “The Soviet mentality keeps us anchored in the past and it should be thus overcome. The young people represent 35% of those eligible to vote and I’m thus optimistic that the pro-European parties will win the elections,” he stated.
