People of culture welcome the forthcoming return of the Romanian TV channel TVR 1 to Moldova.
Poet Iulian Filip has told Info-Prim Neo he is very glad that the Romanian national TV channel that disappeared from Moldova with the Communists' contribution will be retransmitted again. He voiced hope that TVR 1 will become one of the most popular channels in Moldova and will help the Romanian Bessarabians to come out of the Communist darkness.
Sandu Grecu, the head of the Theater People’s Union, stated for Info-Prim Neo that this autumn is so nice owing to the return home of this TV channel. According to him, TVR 1 must be broadcast in Moldova so as to contribute to the change of the mentality of a part of the population and even of some of the representatives of the intellectual elite. “TVR 1 means correct informing and opening to Europe, to the Romanian people,” said Sandu Grecu.
The Romanian Embassy in Chisinau also welcomed the decisions of Telefe M International and the Broadcasting Coordination Council to resume the retransmission of TVR1 in Moldova through the channel 2 Plus.
In a communiqué, the Embassy says that the retransmission of TVR1 is another example of the quality and dynamic of the Moldovan-Romanian relations. “The existence of a common cultural, media and intellectual area between out counties is a consequence of a historical reality and an answer to the expectations of the peoples of both of the states.”
The broadcast license of the Romanian channel TVR1 was withdrawn in 2007 and granted to Telefe M International for the television channel 2 Plus.
On November 10, the Broadcasting Coordination Council unanimously voted in favor of retransmitting TVR 1 in Moldova through the state-owned network No. 2 that has national coverage and is now used by Telefe M International.
