A number of people of arts expressed their support for the candidate for mayor of Chisinau Andrei Nastase by a Declaration-Appeal. The signatories of the document argue that the politicians who consolidate and unite society with a view to abolishing an oligarchic, anti-democratic and anti-popular regime should be encouraged, IPN reports, with reference to the document.
“Given the need to restore the path to democracy, the rule of law, prosperity and civilized evolution first of all in Chisinau and then in the whole country, realizing that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo now has two coordinated candidates – Silvia Radu and Ion Ceban – who are supported by all the possible means: administrative, financial, media and others, analyzing the risk of division of the pro-European voters owing to the behavior of particular parties that claim to be fighting the oligarchic regime, and this can lead to the victory of one of the candidates of the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo, we call on the people of good faith from the Republic of Moldova and the Diaspora, on all those who care about the country’s future and those who fully realize the danger confronting democracy in our captured state to support Andrei Nastase in the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality, who is the common candidate of the pro-European and anti-oligarchic forces,” reads the Declaration-Appeal that was signed by people’s artists, masters of art and other representatives of civil society and the cultural community.
The signatories call upon the candidates for the mayoralty of Chisinau to bring to an end the disputes and not to divide the people. “We cannot speak about national unity and credibility when the political people are unable to leave the own ambitions aside and do not show capacity to consolidate, to unite by concrete actions. We call on the other candidates to transmit a signal of unity to the whole society by own deeds, also assuming overall responsibility for the Chisinau City Hall, which is the last fort of democracy, and to support common candidate Andrei Nastase.”
