The persons who come to the Republic of Moldova after visiting or transiting one or several countries of the “red zone” the past 14 days will be obliged to present the negative result of the PCR COVID-19 test even if they have vaccine certificates. The new measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic on entry into the Republic of Moldova will be applied as from December 27, IPN reports, quoting the National Extraordinary Public Health’s decision.

The test should be done at most 72 hours prior to departure for persons who travel by public transport or prior to entry into the Republic of Moldova in the case of those who travel by personal cars. The test will be required both of vaccinated persons and of unvaccinated persons. The confirmation should be presented in Romanian, English, French, Italian or Russian. The list of red zone states will be compiled by the Ministry of Health starting with December 24 and will be updated once in seven days.

According to the Commission’s decision, the persons who haven’t visited red zone countries will continue to present the required COVID certificates and test results or will have to self-isolate for 14 days. The quarantine can be interrupted after the seventh day if a PCR COVID-19 or rapid Ag SARS CoV-2 test is done and the result is negative.

The children younger than 12, students younger than 18 who are to take exams or go to study at education institutions in the Republic of Moldova or abroad and those who travel for health reasons, including the persons accompanying them, are an exception.

The National Extraordinary Public Health also decided that access to the Chisinau International Airport as from December 23 will be also permitted to accompanying persons who will present the COVID-19 certificate.
