Several residents of Chisinau's Botanica district came to protest on Friday, July 20, in front of the City Hall, after finding several dead strays dogs. The protesters brought along three dog corpses and put them in right outside the City Hall. Protesters claim that the municipal administration poisoned the dogs, reports Info-Prim Neo. Dora Bitca, resident of Buiucani, stated that she had found several poisoned dogs this morning. She says that they were left to die right near a children’s playground. And dog that lives in their yard, which was castrated, was also poisoned and is now hanging between life and death. “You can see that the dog is castrated. I didn’t ask money from anyone. I used my own to do it, and today morning I found my dog poisoned”, said Dora Bitca. President of the animal protection organization ALGA Valentina Dudnic came to support the protesters. According to her, several dogs died in pain, and their poisoning was planned by the Mayor and the branch Deputy Mayor. “There are several funds, but no one castrates the dogs, they do, however, poison them. With 100 grams of sausage you can kill all the stray dogs in the city, and the rest of the money go into their own pockets”, Valentina Dudnic said. When asked to comment upon the situation Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said that there is a request for funding the building of a shelter for strays. “Corpses in front of the City Hall are not a correct and productive approach, as it may seem to some. Until then the rules of diminishing the number of homeless animals are in effect”, the Mayor said, without giving any further details.
