Titus Jucov was not only a stage manager, but also an exceptional teacher who managed to create absolute harmony in a bilingual, Romanian-Russian troupe. The master will be remembered by those who knew him as a joyful, inspired and active person.
Contacted by IPN, the chairman of the Theater Union Sandu Grecu said the death of Titus Jucov is a great tragedy not only for the Theater “Licurici” that he managed. Moldova lost the director of all the puppets. “He had helped me during four years. Before leaving for Turkey together with his puppet troupe, we had a discussion. We were to start dozens of projects together. I feel exhausted as his death was completely unexpected,” he stated.
“Another soldier of culture passed away. I cannot yet fully realize that Titus Jucov is no longer among us and we will no more meet at the canteen at noon or in his office, where I went to seek help from him,” the director of the National Library “Vasile Alecsandri” Alexe Rau wrote on a social networking site. He said that he and Titus Jucov became directors of institutions of culture almost simultaneously. As the institutions were situated opposite, they became friends for life.
The chairman of the Union of Plastic Artists Ghenadie Jalba underlined that nobody expected such a surprising and tragic death. Titus Jucov was more than a theater director and his death leaves a huge gap. A long period of time will pass until society realizes that Titus Jucov has gone. According to Ghenadie Jalba, Titus Jucov never complained about his state of health and it’s a tragedy that he departed this life in only several hours.
President Nicolae Timofti, Head of Parliament Igor Corman, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and people of culture from Moldova sent a message of condolence to the family and relatives of Titus Jucov. The message reads that during the 34 years as manager of “Licurici” Theater, Titus Jucov managed to create a great national theater for children. His theater has won many trophies and prizes at international and national festivals, with “Licurici” becoming a brand of Moldova.
Titus Jucov died on November 17, at the age of 63. The master will be buried at the Central Cemetery located on Armeneasca St in Chisinau.
