People are still dissatisfied with work of judges, poll

The people continue to be dissatisfied with the work of Moldovan judges, whom they consider unprofessional and corrupt. According to an opinion poll presented by the Center for the Analysis and Prevention of Corruption (CAPC) on January 29, 46% of those surveyed are dissatisfied with the work of the courts of law. They said the judges entered this profession accidentally, do not become involved and do not study the laws. CAPC director Galina Bostan told a news conference that a part of those polled said that five years ago the judges were more profound, while now they do not enter the essence of the problems and do not analyze the fundamental cases. 48% of the respondents said they are not satisfied with the infrastructure of the courts as there is not enough space for everyone to take part in trials. The number of tables and chairs is lower than necessary. A part of the furniture is in a bad state. The equipment is also inappropriate. The respondents were also asked about the quality of the work done by clerks. Most of them said the clerks are not amiable, are impolite, rebuke those attending the hearings, speak on the phone, and do not listen to the persons involved in trials. The survey covered a sample of 603 persons who interacted with justice. The poll was conducted in courts of law of Chisinau municipality. The filled out questionnaires were left by the respondents in boxes set up in courts. A part of the answers cane through the website where the survey was published.
