A group of retired people gathered in front of the Chisinau City Hall on Friday to protests against the heat tariffs. Then they moved into the quarters of the public administration. Bearing portraits of Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Eduard Musuc, the protesters have asked for heat compensations, calculated automatically, and for the dismissal of general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. The CMC's sitting started an hour later than due. The police prevented the protesters to enter the session hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Some protesters have recognized they are members of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the secretary of which is Musuc. Then the police allowed ten of them to enter the hall. The remaining kept chanting they wanted cheaper heating. Chairman Eduard Musuc said it is possible that those members may be PSD members, but rejected the allegation of him inviting them to protest. Leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction in the CMC Alexandru Tanase has proposed to dismiss the CMC chairman, “for the chaos in the City Hall's quarters”. The proposal will be discussed after the lunch break. According to a by-law regulating the heat compensations, a series of social categories, including the retirees, can benefit from a 40% compensations to be paid from the municipal budget. They need to submit a set of documents for that. Earlier Eduard Musuc proposed to give compensations without undergoing this procedure to certain categories, but his idea did not gather the necessary number of councilors' votes.
