A pensioner remained without her savings of 400,000 lei after she was persuaded to invest the money in a cryptocurrency trading platform, IPN reports.
The National Anticorruption Center (NAC) and prosecutors of Chisinau municipality are conducting searches in Chisinau, Edineț and Ungheni, from where the suspects are. According to investigators, it is a group of people, including foreign citizens, who allegedly acted through breach of trust.
The suspects convinced the woman to transfer the money, telling her that she would be able to double the amount invested, but she remained without gain and without the money she gave.
Following the criminal investigation measures, electronic devices were seized from suspects' homes and the persons concerned are to be questioned. The investigation continues.
