The pension arrears in the Transnistrian region are higher than 1 billion Russian rubles (over 1.3 billion lei). Specialists from the region say the costs for paying pensions are on the rise and increased by almost 75% over the last four years, IPN reports.
According to data presented by the Tiraspol analytical information portal “Novostipmr”, the budget deficit for the social insurance fund rose 2.5 times compared with 2010.
Specialists consider the stability of the pension system can be ensured by a ratio of 2.4 workers to 1 pensioner. The critical proportion is 1.5 workers per pensioner. In Transnistria, this ratio is 1:1.
The competent services of Transnistria say the number of pensioners grows annually. In 2010 there were 135,000 pensioners, while in 2014 the figure exceeded 140,000. At the end of this year, the minimum pension on the left side of the Nistru will be 606 Transnistrian rubles (about 790 lei).
The minimum pension on the right side of the Nistru is now 798.33 lei. Furthermore, the pensioners get bonuses of 100 lei and 180 lei.
