The Transnistrian administration toughened up the penalties for offenses committed against minors. The persons who will involve a minor in actions of a sexual character face up to three years in jail. Until now the harshest punishment was one year, IPN reports.
According to “Novyi Region” Agency, the adopted document envisions the acceptance of the aggravating circumstances of the offense committed against a minor by a parent or a person acting as guardians. This also applies to teachers and other employees of the childcare system, education institutions and medical institutions.
There were also approved harsher punishments for offences against the sexual integrity of minors. The punishment for persons sentenced for sexual offenses against minors under 14 was thus annulled.
The involvement of a minor in actions of a sexual character will be fined 1,000 to 3,000 minimum salaries or will be punished with up to three years in jail. Earlier, the fine was 700 to 1,000 minimum salaries.
