Pedestrian injured in car accident on the sidewalk

A woman from Chisinau became a victim of a car accident, although she was walking as a pedestrian on the sidewalk. According to the inspector of Road Safety Service, Administrative Supervision and PR of Chisinau Road Police, Ion Roscovan, at 9:20 AM at the crossing of Puskin and Bucuresti streets, two cars ran one into each other – an Opel-Vectra driven by an engineer of “Anturaj” Ltd and a Mercedes-307, driven by the commercial director of JSC “Beton-Com”. As a result of the impact, the Opel was heaved on the sidewalk, uprooting from the asphalt a dustbin that hit a woman aged 55, who was walking on the sidewalk. The woman was hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital with mental shock, multiple plagues of head and face. A woman aged 70 with serious injuries was hospitalized at the same hospital. She was hit by a Suzuki motor bike; its driver ran away from the venue. The woman suffered a contusion of thorax and other traumas, including fractured legs. On Tuesday, 19 drunk drivers and 52 drivers who exceeded the legal speed limit were caught by the road police.
