The signs that mark pedestrian crossings have a new look. Along several road sectors in Chisinau municipality, road signs have been replaced with new ones that have a green fluorescent framing so as to be more visible at night and prevent accidents. Head of the general division for public transport and communication ways Adrian Boldurescu said that the new signs are installed in zones with low visibility or on streets without street lights. In time, they will be installed throughout the city. The expenses are covered by the municipal budget. According to the division head, the price is nearly the same as the price of old signs. Traffic Police press officer Aurelia Mija told Info-Prim Neo that since the beginning of the year, 343 accidents involving pedestrians took place in Chisinau. 15 people died and 346 were injured. 229 of these accidents happened right on pedestrian crossings and 8 of them were deadly for pedestrians.
