The municipality of Chisinau started the works to rehabilitate the pedestrian area and lighting system in the historical center of the capital city, in the perimeter of the streets Maria Cebotari, Alexei Shchusev, Sfatul Țării and Mihail Kogălniceanu. The rehabilitation works in the pedestrian area of the quarter were planned to last for three months, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Chisinau City Hall.

The sidewalks are to be refurbished by building parking places. There will be set up decorative nocturnal lighting. Ramps to facilitate the movement of persons with reduced mobility and tactile paving will be put up near crosswalks. The green areas will be rehabilitated and springs will be installed there.

Under the project, about 2,800 square meters of sidewalks will be covered with granite pavement. There will be placed 580 linear meters of new curbs and 39 poles that will light the pedestrian area. The façade of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History will be lit by 64 uplighters.

The works will cost about 3 million lei, which will be allocated from the 2019 municipal budget.
