The Democratic Party (PDM) will not withdraw Valentina Buliga from the electoral race for the mayoralty of Chisinau, the party’s president Marian Lupu said in a news conference held several hours after the Liberal-Democrat leader Vlad Filat announced that they had withdrawn their candidate Victor Bodiu and urged his alliance colleagues to do the same, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Democratic Party welcomes the Liberal-Democrat leader’s concern about strengthening the Alliance for European Integration. Despite the fact that this decision was imposed by certain circumstances, we support it,” said Marian Lupu.
He also said that the PDM’s decision to maintain Valentina Buliga in the electoral race was taken by the party’s political council. “We are also concerned about the fate of the democratic government. It was the Democratic Party’s decision that made the formation of the Alliance for European Integration possible in 2009 and 2010. We will continue to make effort to fulfill the joint commitments we made to the Moldovan people,” said the leader of the PDM.
