The faction of the Democratic Party (PDM) will decide if they will vote in favor of the no-confidence motion against the Strelet Government in the morning of October 29, before the Parliament sitting. Such a statement were made by Head of Parliament Andrian Candu, who is the deputy president of the PDM, after the meeting of the party’s Executive Political Bureau held in the evening of October 28, IPN reports.
“We had a very productive discussion and exchanged opinions with all our colleagues, including MPs and ministers. We took stock of all the discussions we had within the Council of the ruling coalition, especially the last discussions and the last request made to our colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party, in particular to Mister Strelet, as regards the resignation. We know that Mister Strelet and the colleagues from the PLDM intend to take a decision tomorrow. We will also meet in Parliament tomorrow, at 9am, to reach a final decision,” stated the Speaker.
Andrian Candu underlined that the decision will depend on what Valeriu Strelet says. “It should be noted that we want a pro-European coalition and a comfortable majority and this is the most important thing. All our commitments related to the Association Agreement should be a priority for Moldova,” he said.
The Head of Parliament also said that if the Democratic MPs vote for the no-confidence motion, it will be because they lost confidence in the Strelet Government, not because of the suspicions about the acts of corruption.
The no-confidence motion tabled by the Socialist and Communist MPs will be voted on by Parliament on October 29. The sitting starts at 10am. The Liberal parliamentary group and the group of unaffiliated MPs led by Iurie Leanca announced that they will not vote in favor of the motion.
