The Democratic Party (PDM) will ask the Constitutional Court to pronounce on the bill to revoke the law that authorized the sale of the site of the former Republican Stadium to the United States for construction of a New Embassy Compound. This is the Party of Socialists’ legislative proposal that was adopted on December 3 together with the MPs of the Platform “For Moldova”, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, IPN reports.

“When you concede a stadium to a billion thief, things do not follow the right path. Someone steals you home and offers to build a slide in your yard,” PDM secretary general Alexandru Jizdan stated in a press briefing.

The Democrats consider the speed at which laws that divide society were adopted in Parliament, namely the legislation on the status of ATU Gagauzia, functioning of languages and the draft state budget and budgetary-fiscal policy is abnormal.

Alexandru Jizdan, ex-minister of the interior, said that the failure to question current minister of the interior Pavel Voicu shows once again that there is a PSRM-Shor majority in Parliament. The current developments in Moldova are very dangerous. “Instead of fighting organized crime, some of the political leaders confer orders to criminals, while other criminals are freed from punishment. Our politicians sit at a table with representatives of the organized crime. When such phenomena take place, the state become tied to mafia,” stated Alexandru Jizdan.

On December 3, the Socialist MPs and the MPs of the Platform “For Moldova”, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, voted to abrogate the law that authorized the sale of the site of the former Republican Stadium to the United States for construction of a New Embassy Compound. The opposition MPs blocked the central rostrum of Parliament. The situation degenerated into verbal altercations and pushing. The decision was also criticized by the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau. The PAS requested the Constitutional Court to pronounce.
