The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) notified the institutions responsible for the organization of elections of violations of provisions of the Law on Political Party, the Election Code and the Broadcasting Code committed by parties and civic organizations. According to the PDM, these departures can negatively influence the electoral process.

In a press release that is quoted by IPN, the party said that in the case of parliamentary elections, the process of designating candidates starts 60 days before the elections and ends 30 days before the election day. But the PSRM started this process long before and President Igor Dodon directly becomes involved in the political promotion of the  PSRM.

The Democrats also said that until now the Central Election Commission registered no electoral bloc. Nevertheless, electoral agitation in favor of the bloc ACUM has been conducted for several months by representatives of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” even if this bloc does not exist from legal viewpoint. In the recent past, a series of public associations have become actively and openly involved in illegal campaigns to politically promote potential electoral contenders, which are financed with foreign funds, but this is against the law. The PAS and PPPDA continue to violate the legislation by making trips abroad by the model of the serious illegalities reported within the scandalous case “Open Dialog”.

The ruling party criticizes a number of broadcasters that distribute fake news and make use of false identities in the dialogue with the interviewed persons. “An example is the feature “Post office employees, PD emissaries”, where journalists of Jurnal TV falsely presented themselves as representatives of the Democratic Party of Moldova. This case of identity theft and manipulation was already reported to the BCC,” stated the PDM.

The Democratic Party calls on all the political parties to immediately stop such illegal practices, to obey the law and to stop the actions that compromise the electoral process. It demands that the state institutions should ensure the observance of the law, should attentively monitor this illegal behavior of some of the organizations and should analyze it through the angle of the legislation and take the necessary decisions to stop such illegal practices.

The PDM noted a working group of jurists and electoral experts was created to monitor the pre-electoral and electoral process and to analyze each violation of the legislation and present it to the competent institutions and external partners interested in the elections that will be held in Moldova next February.
