PDM says it wasn’t surprised by decision of three municipal councillors to leave Democratic faction in CMC

The decision of the municipal councillors Alexandru Tanase, Galina Talai and Vladimir Cotet to leave the faction of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), on whose lists they entered the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), is not a surprise for PDM, the faction’s press service says. The management of the party gave all the freedom to the former candidate for mayor general of Chisinau Vladimir Filat when the list of candidates to the CMC on behalf of the party was being drawn up and was not against the fact that the current councillors Alexandru Tanase and Galina Talai, who were not the party’s members, were written at the top of the list, the PDM communiqué reads. The Democrats accuse MP Vladimir Filat and councillor Alexandru Tanase of rejecting from the start the idea of forming a majority coalition, aiming to restrain the fortification of the Liberal opponents, especially from the Liberal Party. “Probably, the aspirations of the new Liberals made them boycott from the start the election of Mihai Ghimpu as chairman of the CMC, resorting to different procedural manipulations such as the support for the secret vote,” the communiqué says. Also, PDM accuses MP Vladimir Filat of persuading councillor Mihai Severovan, elected from the PNL lists, to leave the party. The communiqué also mentions the name of the National Liberal Party (PNL) leader Vitalia Pavlicenco, who is described as “the main consultant of the fresh Liberal Vladimir Filat”. Alexandru Tanase, Galina Talai and Vladimir Cotet announced their intention to leave the Democratic faction at the CMC’s meeting of September 20.
