The talks between the Democratic Party (PDM), the Liberal Democrat (PLDM), the Liberal Party (PL) and Iurie Leanca’s group of MPs of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) start on January 5, the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu announced after the consultations with the head of state, IPN reports.

“We agreed to start today the negotiation process that is to be finished by January 11 or 12. By January 14, we will hold negotiations with our colleagues from Parliament,” stated Marian Lupu. According to him, when the talks are closed, the head of state will be informed if a parliamentary coalition was formed and a candidate for premiership was agreed or if no consensus was achieved.

“Two hours ago, we issued invitations to our colleagues from the PLDM, PL and PPEM. We are to meet in the Parliament Building for a new round of talks at 4pm today. Everyone accepted the invitation,” stated the politician.

Marian Lupu made it clear that the PDM put forward the initiative because they have the largest number of seats of MP together with the 14 former Communist lawmakers, with whom they formed the Social-Democratic Platform. The consultations with President Nicolae Timofti involved Platform member Sergiu Stati.

The leader of the PDM didn’t specify whether the meeting scheduled for 4pm will be attended by representatives of the 14 MPs who left the Party of Communists or not.
