The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) is launching a new nationwide campaign dedicated to Europe Days, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the party.

During the next two weeks, the Democrats from all the country’s districts will stage debates and roundtable meetings centering on the benefits of the rapprochement with the European Union for the living standards as well as performances and fairs to promote the existing cultural resemblances. “The Europeans and Moldovans have many things in common,” said Democrats.

According to the schedule of events dedicated to Europe Days, a number of thematic activities will be staged on May 11-25. These will involve representatives of the diplomatic corps working in Moldova, state leaders, district heads, local elected officials and national artists.

Roundtable meetings will be held in a number of districts to disseminate the main advantages of coming closer to the EU and their impact on local development and enhanced living conditions for each family. Some of the local public authorities will organize Doors Open Days to promote a transparent dialogue between the Democratic local elected officials and the people.

In such districts as Cimislia, Calarasi, Criuleni, Edinet, Leova, Orhei, Falesti and Ungheni, there will be staged large-scale performances, fairs to promote Moldova’s typical features within a multicultural society, playing and creation workshops for children, flashmob meetings, contests of photographs and a parade of the flags of the EU member states.

According to the press release, the initiative on Europe Days forms part of the sustained effort by which the PDM promoted and contributed to improving the living standards in Moldova so that they are close to those in the EU. For example, in 2013, under the slogan “Respect for Moldova’s people”, the PDM collected over 420,000 messages that the people of Moldova addressed to the leaders of the 28 EU member states. These messages were transmitted by Moldova’s delegation to the European leaders who came together at the Vilnius Summit, where an important step was taken on Moldova’s path of European integration by initialing the Association Agreement with the EU.
