The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has launched an initiate to support the Moldovan families. The campaign entitled “Month of the Family” will last for 30 days and is staged on the occasion of the International Day of Families that is annually marked on May 15. The announcement was made by the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu in a news conference, IPN reports.
“The force of Moldova, as of any other state, represents in fact the force of solidarity between people. That’s why the Democratic Party considers that strengthening the solidarity at national and local levels as well as at personal level is a very important objective for our country. Solidarity lays at the basis of our confidence in the capacity to make progress and to ensure the people’s welfare. The Democrat Party considers the united families make the country more united and strong,” said the leader of the PDM.
Marian Lupu noted that by the launched initiative, they want to strengthen the dialogue with the families of Moldova, to find out their hopes and expectations and to draw attention to the problems they face.
“The PDM chose to support the families in our country. We chose to be people of trust for each of those who need help. The team of Democratic ministers already worked out a series of measures for increasing the quality of life for the Moldovan families. The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, which is managed by a Democratic minister, already has a set of measures designed to support the families in Moldova,” stated Marian Lupu.
He also said that in Parliament, the Democratic faction put forward a series of bills aimed at supporting the families and women. Two of these bills, which contain measures to support the young families, are to be debated in the near future. Another bill envisions harsher punishment for domestic violence.
“We are doing everything possible, maybe not at the speed at which we would like to, because we cannot work miracles, especially in difficult conditions. But we do concrete things and make effort to carry out the undertaken tasks. The situation in the country and the region is difficult and being solidary before threats is essential. The problems faced by the Moldovan families in villages and towns are real and we care!” said the Democratic leader.
Within the campaign “Month of the Family”, the PDM will stage activities in every district and will mark the International Day of Families as well as the International Day for Protection of Children on June 1.
