The Democratic Party expresses its regret at the situation created today in Parliament by the opposition groups amid the crisis. In a press statement, the Democratic parliamentary group says that they didn’t go to the sitting because the economic measures were earlier discussed on the platform of the coalition council, being worked out by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, IPN reports.

The Democrats said today’s exercise (presentation of the assumption of responsibility) does not envision a session of questions and answers. So, the physical presence of the MPs there was useless, especially because of the risk of infection with the virus, with the formation of groups larger than three persons being banned.

“We agreed that each of our MPs should decide by oneself if they will take part in the meeting or not,” said the Democrats.

The April 2 sitting of Parliament, where the Government was to present the bill for which it assumed responsibility, didn’t have a quorum. The Socialist and Democratic MPs didn’t appear at the sitting. After the Parliament’s Secretariat announced that only 39 MPs were present, Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi said the sitting cannot be opened because a quorum is not present.
