PDM denies allegations by former party subdivision leader

The leadership of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM) has dismissed the allegations made by Ilie Rotaru, the leader of the PDM subdivision in Buiucani district, that 150 members announced they were leaving the party, PDM said in a press release. According to the press release, only a few members of the Buiucani party organization, who were close to Ilie Rotaru, actually renounced PDM membership. “These statements are part of the denigration campaign against the Democratic Party, based on misinformation and promotion of false messages, which some electoral contenders employ to catch the attention of the media”, reads the press release. The Buiucani party organization itself issued a declaration saying Ilie Rotaru had no right to speak in the name of all the PDM members in the district. It also said that Ilie Rotaru had broken allegiance with PDM in August. Ilie Rotaru stated at a recent news conference that he was leaving PDM together with other 150 members because the party was in fact led from behind by businessman Vlad Plahotniuc, who, according to Rotaru, has got his eye on the post of prime minister.
