Deputy secretary general of the Democratic Party (PDM), MP Eugen Nickiforchuck filed a petition signed by over 100,000 people to the head office of the EU Delegation to Moldova. The PDM asks the European institutions to provide assistance in investigating the possible involvement of the former government controlled by the Liberal Democratic Party and politicians Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase in the banking fraud of 2013-2014, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the party, Eugen Nickiforchuck, after submitting the petition and the signatures, said the party he represents is confident that the Europeans institutions will take the wish of the over 100,000 Moldovans into account and will objectively examine the banking fraud and will determine who really benefitted from that money.
In the petition, the PDM says the preliminary investigations into the banking fraud show illegal financial schemes were implemented on the territory of the EU as well and the need of an investigation at European level derives from here. There are serious indications that the Liberal Democratic Party (on whose list Maia Sandu ran in elections) in the election campaign of 2014 was financed with funds stolen from the three banks and that the protests mounted in 2015 by Andrei Năstase were financially supported with the same funds.
The PDM also requests to probe the relations of the Foundation “Open Dialog”, which is suspected of delivering armament to the Ukrainian region Donbass, with the PAS and PPDA leaders Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase.
