The Democratic Party (PDM) has announced the extension of the “First House” program. The beneficiaries of the third stage are the families with children that bought a house. The state will gradually repay a part or the whole home loan raised from the bank, depending on the number of children, not yet the interest rate. The announcement was made in a press briefing at the head office of the PDM on July 17, IPN reports.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who is the first deputy chairman of the PDM, said that as part of the “First House 3” program, the families with one child will benefit from financial support in the amount of 10% of the value of the home loan, those with two children – of 20%, those with three children – of 50%, while those with four children – of 100%. The interest on the loan will be paid by the beneficiaries of the project.

Pavel Filip stated that the price of the apartment should not exceed 1 million lei. The bank loan will be repayable in 18 years. The project was worked out and is to be approved by the Government and then adopted by Parliament. This is expected to be done within two weeks.

The Premier reminded that 50 million lei was earmarked in the state budget for the “First House” project. The budget revenues rose and are expected to yet rise by another 20 million lei by the end of this year. The larger revenues enabled to extend the program.

Asked by journalists about the fuel price ceilings that were suspended by court twice during the past four weeks, Pavel Filip said the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure works on an initiative to amend the legislation in the field and the methodology for setting fuel prices. The filed lawsuit was an instrument by which the Government could intervene to take a break and come up with the necessary changes. A solution is to be presented in a week.
