PDM and PLDM spent largest amounts of money in election campaign so far

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) and the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) are the parties that spent the largest amounts of money in the election campaign so far. According to the parties’ financial reports for October 10-23, which are available on the Central Election Commission’s website, the PDM has spent 9.26 million lei, while the PLDM 9.5 million lei. The largest part of the money went on advertisements and electoral events, IPN reports.

The Lib-Dems had an available budget of 10.16 million lei gathered from donations made by private individuals. The largest contributions were made by the party’s leader Vlad Filat – 1.2 million lei, and the deputy chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet – 1.15 million lei. The party’s secretary Victor Rosca, private entrepreneur Andrei Carnat and Rodion Coshchug of Cristal Clean SRL donated by 1 million lei..

The PDM collected 9.5 million lei from donations made by private individuals. Unlike the Lib-Dems, the PDM’s list of donors is longer, while the donations are under 100,000 lei. The donors do not include the party’s leaders. Nicolai Dudoglo, who is under No. 9 in the party’s list of candidates, is the most prominent member who made donations.

The Liberal Reformist Party ranks third by its budget – 2.87 million lei. Corneliu Molea, of the publishing house “Prut International”, made the largest donation, of 290,000 lei. The list of donors includes the party’s leaders who donated between 50,000 and 100,000 lei.

The Party of Socialists so far spent 1.836 million lei. According to the report presented by the party, the money was collected from the donations of 23 people, including three pensioners, who donated about 90,000 lei each, and two young people studying for a Master’s Degree, who contributed over 60,000 lei each.

The Communist Party gathered 876,000 lei from private individuals and from the own funds of the party. Its costs amounted to 800,000 lei.

The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova reported costs of 217,000 lei, the Electoral Bloc “Moldova’s Choice – the Customs Union” – of 64,000 lei, the “Antimafie” Movement – of 39,000 lei, the National Liberal Party – of 2,400 lei, the Christian-Democratic People’s Party – of 2,000 lei, while the Communist Reformist Party – of only 50 lei.

The Party “Renaissance” and the Liberal Party reported zero donations and zero expenses, while the Party “Democracy at Home”, the Party “Motherland”, and the People’s Force Party haven’t yet presented financial reports.
