The Central Election Commission (CEC) has warned two election runners – the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) – for violating the electoral legislation, IPN reports.

In the first case, the challenge was filed by the Communist Party (PCRM). According to this election runner, a festive performance to mark the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the State Russian Theater “A.P. Chekhov” was held at the Theater on November 2. The event involved suspended Minister of Culture Monica Babuc, who is a candidate for the seat of MP on the list of the PDM. Though she no longer holds the post of minister, Monica Babuc mounted the stage and handed over 50,000 lei and diplomas of honor to actors of the Theater on behalf of the Ministry of Culture. The suspended minister also voiced hope that the Ministry will continue to provide assistance to the Theater in the future.

In the second case, the challenge was filed by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) against the PL. On November 1, the PLDM’s local organization in Criuleni decided to stage meetings with voters in Corjova village and a concert. The organization asked the local public authorities to allow holding the events at the local home of culture. Though the mayor of Corjova Gheorghe Ojog – who is a candidate for MP on the Liberal ticket - vacated his seat for the period of the election campaign, he rejected the PLDM’s request. As he no longer held the post of mayor at that time, Gheorghe Ojog misused thus his power.
