PDM and PCRM registered as participants in referendum

The Democratic Party (PDM) and the Parity of Communists (PCRM) were registered as participants in the national consultative referendum that will take place simultaneously with the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. The decisions were taken in the December 28 meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC), IPN reports.

The PDM was registered with the option “For”, which is it will plead in favor of the questions put up for the plebiscite, while the PCRM with the option “Against”.

The registration as participants in the national consultative referendum of February 24, 2019 started on December 26. The necessary documents can be submitted to the CEC until January 24, 2019. For each candidate, the election campaign starts with the registration.

The voters in the referendum will be asked if they want the number of MPs to be reduced from 101 to 61 and if they want the people to be able to recall the MPs who do not appropriately fulfil their duties. They will answer with “yes” or “no”.

Over 10 million lei was earmarked for organization and holding the referendum.
