The Democratic Party (PDM) elected councilors in Cricova town, within the Chisinau Municipality, accuse the Liberal-Democratic Party (PLDM) of creating a local coalition with the Communists (PCRM). During a press conference at Info-Prim Neo, they informed that the PLDM and PCRM factions voted together the same initiatives regarding the distribution of specialized commissions, at the first gathering of the Cricova Town Council on Thursday, June 23. Vladimir Postolachi, leader of the PDM faction in the Cricova Town Council, said that PDM received only one of the five permanent commissions- the Social one, and all their proposals were ignored at the first gathering of the Council. According to Postolachi, PCRM got the most important commission- Budget and finances, while PLDM took the other three- Real Estate, Juridical and Youth and sport. For example, the Juridical commission is headed by a kindergarten teacher, while the Youth commission is led by a sexagenarian. “It’s unthinkable that the Budget and finances commission is given to the opposition”, said Postolachi. He claims that this commission and the Real Estate one managed the most important projects and most of the financial means through, which are the core of local government. This distribution of functions defied the AIE leaders call to create democratic coalitions, without PCRM members, at local level. “The meeting began at 9 AM and there was only one issue on the agenda: the distribution of commissions. Before that, we had sent a letter informing about the functions we’d like to get, considering our experience. Our proposals weren’t voiced, as only PLDM councilors spoke during the meeting. Meanwhile, the PCRM representatives only agreed with the Liberal-Democrats on the distribution of commissions. That’s how it happened. What kind of coalition between us and PCRM is the mayor speaking about, when the commissions were shared by PCRM and PLDM?”, said Vladimir Postolachi. Iurie Bors, Cricova local councilor, mentioned that the PLDM and PCRM factions ignored PDM’s proposal to fill the number of commission members. He explained that although PDM didn’t request to lead the main commissions, it wanted to have at least some representatives in each of them, considering the professional experience of the team. “Our faction voted against all the proposals”, said Ion Bors, town councilor. The PDM councilors still hope that a coalition between AIE parties will be formed at local level, according to the agreement between the AIE leaders. PLDM issued a press release accusing PDM of straining the relations within the AIE and distracting public attention from other pressing matters.
