The Party of Communists (PCRM) calls on the voters to boycott the presidential elections as unconstitutional. It suggests that the people should express en masse their disrespect “for the two deceitful charlatans” (candidates who qualified for runoff vote, e.n.) through boycott.
In a press release that is quoted by IPN, the PCRM says the current presidential elections are unconstitutional and the citizens realized this and went to vote in a small number. “The citizens who live in the country showed a high level of knowledge and understanding of the fact that the elections are unconstitutional. The minimum voter turnout needed to declare the first round of voting valid was ensured by the out-of-country polling stations, which contributed 14%”.
According to the party, not only the constitutionality of the President who will be elected as a rest of these elections generates serious concern, but also the moral legitimacy of this. The two candidates who will compete in the runoff represent the absolute minority of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, which is only a very insignificant part of Moldova society. “Both Dodon and Sandu, trying to motivate and mobilize the “shock” electorate, raise in society the most painful and thorny themes for different groups of the population in Moldova. They use only the “weapons” that divides Moldovan society. They divide the country, provoking and multiplying the aggressive spirit, not through personal debates, but in society. They absolutely consciously push the people towards a political confrontation between them and a civil conflict from this confrontation is only one step away,” runs the PCRM’s press release.
The party didn’t field a candidate for President in the current elections.
