Communist MP Grigore Petrenco called upon the members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCRM) to convoke the extraordinary congress where to reelect the party’s administration. He fields himself for the post of chairman. In a press briefing, Grigore Petrenco said the Communist Party can win the elections, but without Vladimir Voronin, who ‘sold’ the party to the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc and accepted the role of loyal opposition, IPN reports.
Grigore Petrenco noted the statements that he voluntarily withdrew from the party’s administration, alongside Iurie Muntean and Mark Tkachuk, are false. “If Mister Voronin has an application with such a request from me, I ask him to make it public. Voronin ‘sold’ the party to Plahotniuc, while the policy he has pursued over the last few months is not approved of by the members and those who voted for the PCRM,” he stated.
The Communist MP underlined that since the last meeting of the PCRM’s Executive Bureau, held four weeks ago, the situation in the party has worsened. “We, those who were removed from the party’s administration, hoped that Vladimir Voronin will change his mind and will not sell and humiliate the party, but nothing has changed,” said the MP.
He called on the Communists’ leader not to put himself forward for the post of chairman of the PCRM any more. He expressed his optimism that the party will win the next elections, but is convinced that this will happen only if Vladimir Voronin vacates the seat of chairman.
Grigore Petrenco added that the latest actions taken by Vladimir Voronin transformed the PCRM into the target of political opponents’ jokes. Voronin’s decision not to take part in the debates, to leave the assembly hall and not to vote against the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU was a serious political mistake and the members and supporters of the PCRM expressed their dissatisfaction with such a move.
