The Communist Party considers that Moldova’s statehood is usurped, especially by the latest decisions passed by the Constitutional Court, and thus calls on Parliament to declare a state of emergency in the country, IPN reports, quoting a press statement of the PCRM.
The statement says that the Constitutional Court’s latest decisions serve the interests of only one party – the Democratic Party. The PCRM calls upon the lawmakers to adopt a law that will enable to fully change the composition of the Constitutional Court so that this authority starts again to work within the law.
According to the PCRM, the struggle between parties is not so significant now as the country’s and the people’s sovereignty is more important.
The Constitutional Court recently declared a number of decisions and laws passed by the Communist and Liberal-Democratic MPs unconstitutional. They include the decision to discharge Corneliu Gurin from the post of prosecutor general and the bill by which the powers of the interim Premier and the dismissed Government were extended.
