The Communists Party (PCRM) put forward three initiatives designed to prevent the destruction of the Moldovan statehood, democracy and entire social and economic system of the country, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a press release, the PCRM says it decided to withdraw its proposal to amend Article 78 of the Constitution as it considers that the new head of state should be elected by the vote of all the lawmakers.
The party says the proposal was formulated in reaction to the ruling alliance's attempt to renounce the parliamentary republic and early parliamentary elections, but Moldovan society defended the parliamentary system by a more efficient method, refusing to take part in the September 5 referendum.
The PCRM believes the government and the Opposition should jointly elect a candidate for the presidency, who should represent civil society, be apolitical and enjoy widespread support. It demands that the Cabinet members responsible for the socioeconomic sphere and the governor of the National Bank resign immediately as they are unable to deal with the current challenges.
The Communists plead for a people's unity Government that would represent the interests of the largest part of the people, assume overall responsibility for the situation in Moldova and would be able to resolve the crisis in a short period of time and to efficiently modernize the country
According to the Communists Party, the government and the Opposition should hold discussions to agree the main principles of modernizing Moldova and the methods of overcoming the social-economic crisis. The party suggests working out a strategy with clear European integration measures and improving the relations with Russia.
The PCRM demands that the government renounce sectarianism and exaggerated arrogance, assume new responsibilities and take steps to fulfill the promises made to the voters.
