The Opposition party, the PCRM, demands that the Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu be dismissed as he did not take part in the drafting of the state budget law for 2010. PCRM leaders say the sum earmarked for the youth is very low. For his part, the minister said the amount approved is not yet final, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on December 9, the representative of the PCRM Ion Ceban, the former Minister of Education and Youth, and Communist MP Inna Supac said the about 40 million lei that will be allocated to the Ministry of Youth and Sport next year is not enough and that the previous government would have allotted much more money. “Why did he make such a fuss over the creation of this Ministry if only 1.8 million lei of the total sum will be used to carry out activities intended for the youth,” Ceban said. According to him, the current government suspended all the youth programs implemented until present, but they made different promises during the election campaign. “The budget for 2010 has not been approved yet. It is to be discussed in the Parliament. I also consider that the sum is low. In the Parliament, the Communist MPs will have the possibility of asking that the sum be increased,” the Minister of Youth and Sport Ion Cebanu has told Info-Prim Neo. MP Inna Supac said she was dissatisfied with the Minister's written answer as regards the organization of the Youth Day this year. “The Minister enumerated 11 activists that had been staged by the partners, not by the Ministry. On December 1, they celebrated the so-called Union Day in Chisinau, but the Youth Day was not marked owing to the flu,” she said. “I presented in the Parliament the information about the given activities and the sum spent on them. The sum was much lower than that spent the previous years, but the effect was greater,” Ion Cebanu said.
