The Communists Party (PCRM) considers it won the September 5 constitutional referendum. “The results of the failed plebiscite, which became the greatest failure of the Liberal ruling alliance, showed once again that the Moldovan people are ready to protect their dignity, opinions, their and the country’s freedoms,” it is said in a statement by the party’s Central Committee made public after the September 11 plenary meeting of the PCRM, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The long and thorough preparations, the use of administrative resources, the unprecedented media propaganda, the lowering of the threshold, the pressure exerted on the voters were designed to ensure an easy and definite victory for the governing alliance. They considered that victory will be definitive in the fight against the Communists Party, which is the main political force that does not allow the Liberal governors to put into practice their evil plans (...) Our people showed they are able to stage a rebellion against an inadequate government,” says the statement. The PCRM thanks the voters who followed their advice and did not take part in the referendum and the representatives of the local public administrations and NGOs that were not afraid to urge the people to boycott the plebiscite. After the meeting, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said the PCRM is ready for elections. Asked if the Communists Party will abide by the nonaggression pact that is to be signed by the governing alliance, Vladimir Voronin said they will wait for the alliance to do it and then will decide.
