Communist MP Grigore Petrenko Tuesday accused the government of registering the legionary-type National Christian Movement, saying this shows that the current administration supports right-wing extremist organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Petrenko, the leaders of the National Christian Movement participated in the April 7 protests in Chisinau and threw stones at the police. He showed videos where an alleged member of the Movement was throwing stones during the April protests. In this connection, the Communist MP said the antisemitic actions held in Chisinau on December 13, when a group of persons vandalized the menorah installed in central Chisinau, are a consequence of the government's policy. He expressed his indignation at the fact that the Ministry of Justice registered such an organization, saying that no European state allows it. The Ministry of Justice denies the accusations, saying it is obliged to register all the organizations whose statutes do not run counter to the legislation. The Ministry says it is not its duty to monitor the work of the organizations, while the accusations leveled by the Communists should be proven in court. The National Christian Movement was registered on November 12, 2009. According to its statute, the organization's aim is to contribute to the conservation and promotion of the Orthodox Christian values and national culture. The Movement's leader Sergiu Lascu could not be found for comment.
